Ahmad Jamal was born on 02-07-1930 as Frederick Russell Jones.
In 1950, he changed his name to Ahmad Jamal and converted to Islam.
In 1951, he made his first record called Ahmad Jamal Trio with The Three Strings for the Okeh label.
Jamal worked for record labels like Parrot, OKeh, Epic, Atlantic, Argo, Dreyfus, Telarc Impulse!, & Telarc.
In 2017, he received Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
He died at the age of 92 on 16-04-2023 from prostate cancer.
