Karisma Kapoor, an actress was born on 25-06-1974 into a famous Bollywood Kapoor family to an actress mother Babita Kapoor & actor Randhir Kapoor.

The Showman of Indian Cinema, Raj Kapoor was her grandfather and Prithviraj Kapoor was her great-grandfather, actress Kareena Kapoor is her younger sister.

She did her schooling at Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and joined Sophia College for higher studies. She dropped out of college after a few months to pursue acting.

She made her acting debut at the age of 17 in K. Murali Mohana Rao's Bollywood film Prem Qaidi in 1991 opposite actor Harish Kumar.

She received the 42nd Filmfare Awards at the age of 23 for Best Actress for Bollywood film Raja Hindustani in 1997.

Her nickname is Lolo at home, which is kept by her mother a passing reference to the Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida. She is also addressed as the Sex Symbol and the National Style Icon in the 1990s.

In 1998, she received 7 nominations and won 5 awards including Filmfare Award & National Award for her role in the blockbuster film Dil To Pagal Hai.
