Education

He studied at St. Francis De’Sales High School in Nagpur, where his classmate was Sharad Arvind Bobde, who served as the 47th Chief Justice of India. After completing his school studies, he joined Nagpur University and completed a degree of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) followed by a Chartered Accountancy (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

Career

Harish Salve started his career by joining J. B. Dadachandji & Co in 1980 as an intern. He assisted noted lawyer Nani Palkhivala in the case of Minerva Mills v. Union of India. Later, he was designated a Senior Counsel by the Delhi High Court. From 1980 to 1986, he worked with an Indian Attorney General Soli Sorabjee, who was awarded Padma Bhushan & Padma Vibhushan.

Then he was appointed as Amicus Curiae by the Supreme Court to the preservation of the environment. He joined the Barristers in England and Wales followed by Blackstone Chambers. His major clients are Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Ratan Tata, Vodafone, and Salman Khan.

In 2015, he appeared in Salman Khan’s 2002 hit-and-run case and was acquitted Salman Khan of all charges on 10-12-2015 by the Bombay High Court. In the same year, he was awarded the third-highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan.

In 2017, he appeared in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case of spying in the International Court and represented India and he took only INR 1 legal fees for this case.
